Wordpress is much more than a blog; it's a powerful website platform

Now you may be thinking, "Hey!  I don't want a website that looks like a blog".  A year ago, I was right there with you.  I installed my first Wordpress blog in December 2006 without much fanfare.  Back then, I was really new to blogging and social networking.

Over the next few years, I began to see people talking online about all the ways you could extend Wordpress.  You could use it to run a shopping cart, Wordpress could be used to display a photo gallery and you could even turn it into a website!

Now I was skeptical about the actual look and design too.  Once I found sites built on Wordpress that looked nothing like a blog, I changed my tune.

Recently, more and more people have been contacting me about using Wordpress as a Content Management System.  A CMS seperates the content from the design so all you have to do is update the text in an easy to use editor similar to Microsoft Word.  This is why I have been a supporter of the Joomla website platform since 2004.  These people are smart in suggesting this because Wordpress is easier to manage than Joomla.  Another powerful feature is Wordpress has built in revision control so you can roll an article back to a previous version easily.
