A·den (ädn, dn)
A city of southern Yemen on the Gulf of Aden. It has been one of the chief ports of southern Arabia since ancient times. A local legend in Yemen states that Aden may be as old as human history itself. Some also believe that Cain and Abel are buried somewhere in the city.
What is Organic Technology?
I use nature as a guide for computer networks and technology planning.
Organic technology is founded on the principals of organic farming. Business technology is selected based on what fits your company. Your business will be better off than where it started from. You always have flexibility to adjust based on where you're at.
Awareness plays a major role. It's imporant reduce the impact of technology on the environment and lower power consumption. There are several ways to go about this including managed hibernation. Remote access is another valuable tool and I explore it with every client. If everyone could work from home 2 days a week, American companies would see the financial and enviromental savings. Best Buy started clocking tasks and not hours a few years ago. Another is durability. Making computer purchases last 3-4 years and keeping them productive reduces your business footprint. Computers take a toll when built and disposed of so less turnover is better. This is accomplished by selecting hardware that can be upgraded and is has a 3+ year warranty.

Aden Networks Code of Conduct
Ethics It's my responsibility as an IT professional to provide the best recommendations based on the facts. Offer several options if available and identify the best solution.
Value Each task will be done with care and effort. I will go outside my comfort zone to explore the best possible solution for my clients. Offer competitive pricing but never compete on price.
Honesty No bush beating. Be direct and realistic. Don't promise cheese curds from the Minnesota State Fair if it's only April. Acknowledge mistakes; own up and work to resolve them promptly. Recognize a dead horse and do not attempt to revive it. Expect the same from others.
Technical Through my utilization, licensing and participation in technology , I will actively seek opportunities to promote software and tools that I find valuable. Pay it forward. Share what I've learned. Collaborate and explore. I support Open Source software.
Community Through networking, I will develop and nurture the city where I live as well as the virtual communities I belong to. I will encourage and support new technology geeks through user groups, documentation and mentoring.
Leave a Legacy Through my awareness of the environmental, social and economic challenges we all face, I will identify opportunities where I can reduce my footprint, fight injustice and empower people near and far to increase their standard of living through technology. In memory of Randy Pausch.
